Lace has been a big hit this autumn on the catwalk, celebrity and high-street alike, so we thought it was high time that we showed you how lace can work in your wardrobe.
It may have been over-exaggerated on the catwalk as the ‘Grown-up Goth’ look, but lace doesn’t have to be all dark and depressing, or daunting come to that, it can be as understated as you like.
In fact, it will look great incorporated into your every day working life- so go lace crazy, or keep it to a minimum, there are no rules to working this trend. The can-be-vampy material looks polished next to a serious fabric like tweed in office-ready cuts and colors.
Dress:

Shirt or blouse:

A black shirt is standard attire for the office, so why not jazz yours up. The only lace detail is at the top, so you can still work this look without going overboard.
The key to not overdoing this trend is to take one key piece, and work around that, so if your shirt has got the lace detail, then keep the rest of your outfit simple..

Tights:
Tights are a big part of updating your wardrobe for autumn as they can totally change your look. This is perhaps the most difficult lace trend to pull off, but again simplicity speaks volumes when putting your outfit together.

Skirt:
Lacy skirts will also look great in almost any shoes, but preferably with little heels and wedges because they have such a natural feel about them. Also remember not to don yourself with lots of jewelry when wearing a lace skirt because like I said, it’s such a sweet, feminine item that it will completely ruin the look.
Lace skirts come in all sorts of sizes and colors, but remember to pick one that suits your silhouette. The best lace skirts are the ones that hit right around the knee area because they look very chic and classy. You can wear them pretty much anywhere, and they will look great.

Reminder:
Lace is a very feminine fabric, wear only one piece of lace at a time so wear it with feminine clothes like a pair of jeans that fit you really well or a beautiful skirt. Don’t add anything else dramatic to your outfit, the lace is enough. And since lacy tops are very dressy, make sure you keep everything else simple such as sticking to one or two elegant and classic pieces of jewelry and make sure you don’t go overboard. Too much will look very wrong. The last, if your lace top isn’t lined, wear a fitted camisole under in the same color or a matching tone. Make sure your bra doesn’t show.
